The latest exhibition at the Pavilion of Exhibitions and Artistic Shows for Young People in Praça do Tap Siac (塔石廣場) presents a raft of art works created using different mediums, showcasing what students from a recent art education programme had learnt during workshops.

Titled “360° Comprehensive View”– Visual Arts Student Works Exhibition, the free-admission showcase is organised by the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) and kicked off late last month, running through January 18.

Entering the venue, members of the public will see a variety of works showcasing students’ creativity. These range from jewellery created through metalworking, colourful welded glass art to shape items including a camera and framed art pieces, and even characters and animals made through wood carving. In all, the exhibits featured showcase the learning outcomes of participants in wood carving, metalworking, glass art, leather craft, fabric arts, and animation.

According to a statement by the bureau, the programme that the participants took part in is called “Art Education Snowball Programme” (藝術教育雪球計劃) and was launched in 2006. The statement said that it aims to “promote arts education and deepen the understanding of art among students and youth in Macau”, as well as inspire the “artistic potential of young students”.

The statement added that the programme was this year organised by the Macao Society for Education in Art (MSEA), or “澳門藝術教育學會” in Chinese. Participants joined six workshops held from August through November, with instructors guiding them throughout their artistic creations.

Members of the public wanting to view the works may do so from Tuesday to Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. throughout the remainder of its run. It is closed on Mondays.
