Aiming to disseminate legal knowledge among the community, the 2025 “Macau Community Legal Education Volunteer Programme” got off the ground with an opening ceremony yesterday.
The five-month programme, jointly organised by the Legal Affairs Bureau (DSAJ), the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau (UGAMM), commonly known as Kai Fong in Cantonese, and the Association of Macao Community Volunteers, is slated to end in November. Yesterday’s opening ceremony was held at Kai Fong’s Social Services Building in Toi San district. The programme has been held for six consecutive years.
This year’s programme highlights specialised legal courses, covering mandatory arbitration for water seepage disputes eviction lawsuit procedures, road traffic legislation, legal education study tours and others, with 55 volunteers participating.
Association of Macao Community Volunteers Chairman Tang Man Kei told reporters on the sidelines of yesterday’s event that the programme focuses on the national constitution, the local Basic Law, as well as legal knowledge on traffic regulations and others, aiming to enable volunteers to spread legal knowledge among the community, helping the elderly to stay updated on the latest laws and regulations.
Tang added that legal information will be disseminated through online and offline channels, such as through legal-themed content, video productions, as well as by organising legal education lectures, which will be combined with visits and practical activities.
