‘Gusto de Amor’ wins TDM’s TV Drama Screenplay & Production Contest

Local drama “Gusto de Amor” (“Taste of Love”) won the “best screenplay” award at the 1st TV Drama Screenplay and Production Contest held by public broadcaster TDM, Hong Kong film director Teddy Chan Tak-sum, who chairs the competition’s jury, announced in a video at a press conference yesterday at the TDM Forum II Studio.

The “Gusto de Amor” production crew will receive a total of 790,000 patacas in prize money for production costs.

The winning drama was chosen from three pieces that reached the semi-final, after 14 local submissions were shortlisted.

The contest, themed “Unlimited Power and Brilliant Talents”, is a part of a series of prelude activities celebrating the station’s 40th anniversary, aiming to promote drama screenplays based on Macau and using Cantonese as the main language.

The winning drama will be produced into a three-episode TV series, with each episode of the TV series having a duration of 25 minutes. TDM will be joining hands with the winning crew to start filming the TV series on December 27, and expects the shooting to be completed in the middle of next month, according to the press conference.

Lorman Lo Song Man, chairwoman of the executive committee of public broadcaster TDM, said during yesterday’s press conference that she is very happy to witness the birth of the best screenplay.

Lo said TDM will continue to hold different activities, interact with more entities to exchange cooperation, and help develop Macau into a “City of Performing Arts” and “City of Culture”.

Director and scriptwriter of the award-winning drama “Gusto de Amor” Oliver Fa Tin Leong, said that the script mainly introduces Chinese and Portuguese culture and local food, aiming to promote Macau’s tourist attractions and UNESCO World Heritage sites globally.
