The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) issued a warning on Wednesday regarding certain batches of Japanese enoki mushrooms potentially contaminated with glass shards.

An enoki is a long, thin white mushroom commonly used in East Asian cuisine.

According to the statement, the bureau has been informed by the Consumer Affairs Agency of Japan about the problematic product recently and is currently recalling it.

The bureau said that it will continue to monitor and follow up on the incident, urging businesses that stock the product to cease supplying and selling it, urging the public to stop consuming the problematic batches of the product.

The enoki mushroom product involved is branded “情热価格”*; its product name is “☆ありえ値ぇ情热価格超特大なめ茸” (“Unbelievably Priced / Passion Price — Extra Jumbo Enoki Mushroom”), the statement said, adding that the product, in a jar, weighs 840 grams, its product barcode being 4549777402793.

The expiration date of the batch involved can be viewed through the link: https://www.gcs.gov.mo/news/detail/zh-hant/N26DOPokUg?keyword=%E9%87%91%E9%87%9D

The bureau recommended in the statement that consumers who have purchased the problematic batches – whether through online shopping, purchasing agents, or other channels – to stop consuming them immediately. Businesses that stock these products should also cease their supply and sales without delay, the statement said.
