Macau resort MGM, Poly Culture host cultural exchange programme

Integrated resort operator MGM said in a statement on Monday that it held the “POLY MGM MUSEUM Cultural Exchange Programme 2026 – Weaving the Legacy of Silk Roads” with Poly Culture Group on Saturday at MGM MACAU, gathering over 500 attendees and speakers from the Chinese mainland, Macau, Italy, and Portugal.

According to the statement, during the event, POLY MGM MUSEUM signed cooperation agreements with five major cultural institutions across key regions in the Chinese mainland, namely Capital Museum (Beijing), Xinjiang Museum, Gansu Provincial Museum, Shaanxi History Museum, and Guangdong Museum (Guangzhou Lu Xun Museum).

“These Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) establish long term collaboration in exhibitions, academic research, resource sharing, and talent development”, the statement said, while two forums that highlighted mutual learning and cultural innovation were also held at the event and fostered discussions.

Details of the upcoming “Confluence in Glass: East–West Artistry Across Time” exhibition at POLY MGM MUSEUM were also announced, being set to open in the fourth quarter of the year. Presented in conjunction with the National Museum of China and the Zibo* Ceramic and Glass Museum, the statement noted that over 180 works will be showcased to highlight “three millennia of Chinese Zibo glassmaking craftsmanship across three thematic chapters”. Moreover, the ongoing “Silk Roads Beyond Borders Exhibition” also features new highlights.

During the event’s opening, video messages were delivered by Pansy Ho Chiu King, chairperson and executive director of MGM China Holdings Limited, vice chairman of the board committee and museum director, POLY MGM MUSEUM; and Wang Bo, chairman of Poly Culture Group and chairman of board committee, POLY MGM MUSEUM. They respectively highlighted the important role of Macau, the museum and its efforts, and the significance and aims of the recently-held event.

Moreover, in her closing remarks, Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) President Deland Leong Wai Man said she hoped that the event’s outcomes can be leveraged to deepen cooperation and exchanges with cultural and museum institutions in the Chinese mainland and worldwide.
