The Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) announced in a statement yesterday that the 4th Business Conference on Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development is set to return to Macau next Thursday.
According to the statement, the conference will be held in Macau again following its inaugural edition in 2023. The conference will take place at The Venetian Macao Cotai Expo.
The two-day conference is expected to attract more than 1,000 participants from political, business, and academic circles from the Greater Bay Area (GBA), elsewhere in the Chinese mainland, and overseas, the statement noted.
The conference aims to build a platform for the domestic and international business communities to engage deeply with the GBA, promoting high-quality regional economic development and international integration, the statement noted.
The event will feature a raft of activities, including the release of this year’s Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Supply Chain Promotion Report, as well as showcases highlighting the achievements of the shared arbitration mechanism between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau. The itinerary will also include a plenary session, parallel thematic seminars, on-site business visits, and business matching sessions, according to the statement.
The plenary session, themed “Strengthening the Greater Bay Area’s Industrial Chain and Collaborating for Global Economic Development”, will be complemented by four parallel thematic seminars focusing respectively on technological innovation and industrial synergy, the co-ordinated development of cultural tourism and exhibitions (MICE), cross-border investment fund collaboration, and the biomedicine and health industries.
During the conference, around 100 enterprises from the three regions will take part in one-on-one business matching sessions covering sectors such as logistics, e-commerce, health, technology, and food supply chains. For the first time, the conference will also hold a Greater Bay Area Cooperation and Exchange Meeting on Supply Chains for Local Speciality Products, alongside fact-finding trips to the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and across Macau.
IPIM highlighted in the statement that this year’s conference is not merely a platform for showcasing policies and achievements, but also an important opportunity to facilitate cooperation and bring investment to fruition. It expressed hope that holding the conference successfully will create greater scope for the international development of enterprises in Macau and across the wider GBA.
