The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has received an announcement from Japan’s Consumer Affairs Agency (CCA) that a certain prepacked instant noodle product probably contains plastic fragments.
The bureau urged residents to stop consuming products from the affected batch and appealed to the trade to stop supplying and selling the product if they are in possession of it, according to an IAM statement on Monday.
The statement identified the problematic product as “Nissin Sauce Yakisoba Cup with Chicken Soup” (日清ソース焼そばカップ チキンスープ付き)”, with a net weight of 104 grams, manufactured by Higashinihon Myojo Co., Ltd. Saitama Factory with a best-before-date of 2026.09.10.
The bureau urged consumers who have purchased the product through online shops, food purchasing proxy or any other channel not to consume it, adding that businesses in possession of the affected product should also immediately stop supplying and selling it, and contact the IAM food safety department on 2833 8181.
The bureau will continue to follow up on the incident to prevent the affected product from circulating in the market, the statement added.
