The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will hold a raft of activities suitable for children, youths and families from next month to August, including a civic education camp, a Chinese culture workshop series, and the “Good Citizen Puppet Theatre”. All residents are welcome to sign up via the “Macao One Account” free of charge, according to an IAM statement on Friday.
New civic education Hengqin tour
The statement noted that the bureau organises the “Civic Education Friendship Camp” programme for children and young people aged 6 to 18 in Macau, divided into friendship-camp and parent-child camp sessions every summer.
This year, the new “Civic Education Friendship Hengqin Tour” has been added, aiming to enable participants to learn about courtesy, cultivate a sense of responsibility and public mindedness through group games and outdoor competitions.
The friendship camp and the parent-child camp will be held at the Hac Sa Beach Training Centre, with a maximum of 30 participants per session, the statement said, adding that the friendship Hengqin tour is only open for group registration by schools or organisations. Participation in the parent-child camp requires accompaniment by one parent or guardian.
The “Chinese Culture Fun Workshop” series, held at the Chinese Ethnicities Sculpture Park in Nape and the Civic Education Resource Centre, offers educational and entertaining creative experiences that allow residents to appreciate the profound heritage and unique charm of the diverse cultures of the Chinese nation through hands-on creation, the statement said.
The statement added that the “Paper Magic for Ethnic Girls” workshop, “Bamboo Blessing Wind Chimes” workshop, “Colour Collage Paradise for Ethnic Costumes” workshop and “Yi People*-Style Triangle Bags” workshop will take place from July through August. In addition, two sessions of the “Good Citizen Puppet Theatre “will be launched in July and August, aimed at families with children aged 3 to 12. Children can learn about the importance of a courteous life. The sessions will be held on July 26 and August 23, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a capacity of 40 participants per session.
