Sichuan’s Rongzhu secured a first-round victory last night on day one of Road To UFC Season 5 at Galaxy Arena in Cotai, beating Victor Martinez from Texas via TKO (strikes) in 1 minute 10 seconds.
A TKO is a technical knockout.
This brings UFC lightweight Rongzhu’s fight record to 28 wins and six losses. During the post-fight interview, Rongzhu,26, called out Australian Quillan Salkilld, wanting to fight him next.
Meanwhile, co-headliner Xie Bin from Hunan won his bout against Yudi Cahyadi from Bandung, Indonesia, via TKO (right hand) at 2:05 of Round 1.
Yesterday marked the launch of the featherweight and bantamweight tournaments at Macau’s largest indoor arena. The action continues today with ROAD TO UFC Season 5 – Day 2, headlined by female fighters Shi Ming (17-6), a UFC strawweight fighting out of Kunming and marking her return to Macau since 2024, and UFC light heavyweight. Puja Tomar (17-6-1) from India.
UFC FIGHT NIGHT will meanwhile take place tomorrow, with Brazil’s Deiveson Figueiredo, No.7 UFC Bantamweight, going head-to-head with Heilongjiang’s Song Yadong, No.5 UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) Bantamweight as the main event.
