Air Macau announced in a statement yesterday that fuel surcharges on all routes will increase by between 37 percent and 53 percent next month.
According to the statement, in response to the recent sharp fluctuations in international aviation fuel prices, which have soared from the previous range of US$85 to US$90 (686 patacas to 726 patacas) per barrel to a range of US$150 to US$200 per barrel – an increase of more than double and reaching a current high, Air Macau has decided to adjust its fuel surcharge.
The statement said that effective April 1, Air Macau will adjust its fuel surcharge, with an overall increase ranging from 37 percent to 53 percent across different route segments.
The surcharge for long-haul routes will rise from 258 patacas to 353 patacas; for medium-haul routes it will increase from 161 patacas to 241 patacas; and for short-haul routes it will go up from 113 patacas to 173 patacas.
Flights departing from Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan will follow the unified requirements set by the local civil aviation authorities, the statement said, adding that the specific adjustment plan was still subject to the final confirmation as announced on the official Air Macau website.
