Seven sessions of art workshops at the Macau Museum of Art (MAM) for youngsters aged four to 16 are open for registration, to be held for the museum’s “Art Without Boundaries – Children’s Workshop Series.

With registration open until March 22 via the Macao One Account (activity.mo.gov.mo/activity-h5), the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) said in a statement earlier this week that the workshops will be held from April to June, aiming to enable young people to “experience the infinite possibilities of art”.

According to the statement, the biannual workshops are a “major programme” of “Friends of MAM”. The workshops, which are held in conjunction with an exhibition themed on landscape paintings from the Ming and Qing dynasties, will provide youngsters with a creative journey through ancient and modern times.

Among the workshops are the Chinese-English “Painting and Imagination – Children’s Art Creative Workshop” for ages 5 to 10 that enables participants to express their appreciation for natural landscapes using brushes, colour, ink, and collage. “Painting Fantastical Landscapes – Youth Tile Painting Workshop”, meanwhile, will allow those aged 11 to 16 to use contemporary materials and experiment with ink painting.

Moreover, the “Joint Expedition through Landscape Painting – Parent-Child Creative Workshop” invites children aged four to six to explore art through brush and ink alongside their parents.

Each workshop lasts a total of 12 hours, with a fee of 240 patacas, and will be held in MAM’s Zero Square or the Art Square at the Handover Gifts Museum of Macau, according to the statement.

A lucky draw will be held if those registered exceed the available slots per workshop.

The museum is located on Avenida Xian Xing Hai (冼星海大馬路) and is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 to 7 p.m. It is closed on Mondays. More details are available on www.MAM.gov.mo
