The Macau Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) announced in a statement yesterday that Ministry of Commerce (MOC) Department of Foreign Trade Deputy Director General Li Na led a delegation to Macau yesterday for an inspection tour focused on ensuring a stable supply of agricultural and ancillary products.

According to the statement, the delegation conducted on-site visits to assess the supply situation of such products from the Chinese mainland to Macau. Delegation members included representatives from the ministry, the General Administration of Customs, and Guangdong Province’s Department of Commerce.

The delegation was accompanied by IAM President Chao Wai Ieng and administrative committee member Ung Sau Hong during their visit to the Macau Wholesale Market and Taipa Municipal Market.

The statement quoted Li as saying that the central government places a high level of importance on ensuring Macau’s supply of agricultural and ancillary products. Relevant departments and provincial authorities work in close coordination to implement the Central People’s Government’s directives, guaranteeing a safe and stable supply to the Macau market, Li said.

Li noted that in 2025, the Chinese mainland shipped 420,000 tonnes of agricultural and ancillary products to Macau, with increases recorded in live hogs, live cattle, poultry, fruit, aquatic products, and alcoholic beverages, while the supply of vegetables and grains remained stable, adding that the enterprises supplying Macau have established high-standard production and processing bases, ensuring food safety at the source.

The statement also said that the delegation focused on the supply sources, quality, and price fluctuations of meat, vegetables, poultry, eggs, and aquatic products supplied to Macau.

5 measures to ensure stable supply

In the statement, Li emphasised that, due to the approaching Year of the Horse, the ministry has introduced five measures to ensure a stable supply.

The five measures consist of optimising the organisation of supply sources, ensuring quality and safety, responding to emergencies, strengthening inter-departmental coordination, and reinforcing safety protocols – all measures aimed at guaranteeing Macau’s stable supply of agricultural products during the festive period.

The Year of the Horse begins next Tuesday.
