Integrated resort Studio City Macau has launched a special exhibition celebrating the 60th anniversary of classic comic series “Old Master Q”*, running since yesterday through April 12 in Cotai, according to a statement by Melco Resorts & Entertainment yesterday.

The statement said that the “Enchanting Moments at Studio City: Old Master Q 60th Anniversary Fantastic Journey Macau Special Exhibition” features themed displays, photo spots, interactive experience zones, a pop-up store, and comic-inspired menu items.

Spanning several areas of Studio City, the exhibition brings the comic’s characters Old Master Q, Big Potato and Mr Chin to life through immersive installations, the statement said, adding the highlights include a “Time Machine Manuscript Collection”, showcasing rare prototype manuscripts and vintage artist equipment, and an “Old Master Q Newsstand and Café”, designed to recreate the nostalgic experience of reading comics.

In addition, exhibitiongoers can also take part in interactive attractions such as Fantastic Crossover 321, where guests can create their own four-panel comic strip photos, as well as Classic Comic Lane, which incorporates local cultural elements, the statement noted.

The statement said that themed experiences will also extend to dining outlets and a photo installation near the Light Rapid Transit entrance, offering exhibitiongoers a “Fun Never Ends” journey through the comic’s 60-year legacy.

* “Old Master Q” (老夫子) is a classic Chinese manhua (comic) character created by the late Hong Kong cartoonist Alfonso Wong (under the pen name Wong Chak) in the 1960s. “Old Master Q” is a bald, elderly man who always wears traditional Chinese attire – a black mandarin jacket and trousers. He is often portrayed as well-meaning but slightly old-fashioned, clever yet sometimes mischievous, navigating the clash between traditional values and a rapidly modernising world. The comics are mostly silent gag strips, i.e., using very few words, relying on visual humour and slapstick. – DeepSeek
