Macau Customs Service officers raided a parallel-trading den in the peninsula’s northern district on Thursday where they seized 1.6 tonnes of frozen cooked pork tripe worth around 48,000 patacas in total.
According to a statement on Friday, on Thursday night the officers caught a 25-year-old local female who ran the business and hired parallel traders to smuggle frozen cooked pork tripe from Macau to the mainland.
The female faces a fine in compliance with the relevant provisions listed in the External Trade Law, the statement said.
Moreover, the statement added, the female violated the Food Safety Law as the supposedly frozen cooked pork tripe was stored merely at room temperature, adding that the Customs Service has meanwhile transferred the case to the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) for follow-up action.

This handout photo released by the Macau Customs Service on Friday shows the seized frozen cooked pork tripe stored at room temperature at a parallel trading den in the peninsula’s northern district on Thursday.
