Macau’ s Zhu Yuling has won the Women’s Singles title against the Chinese mainland’s Chen Xintong during the WTT (World Table Tennis) Champions Doha 2026, which was held at the Lusail Sports Arena from January 7 through 11.
The announcement was made in a statement on the WTT website yesterday and the day prior, with the competition being the first event of the WTT season. A total prize fund of US$500,000 (4.015 million patacas) was up for grabs.
The scores were 5-11, 13-11, 3-11, 11-7, 11-8 and 13-11. The statement noted that through the win, Zhu, 31, is now World No.5, and marks the first time since 2019 that Zhu has returned to the Top 5.
Zhu, who was born in Mianyang, Sichuan, returned after a four-year break due to illness and enrolling in a doctoral programme, representing Macau at the WTT Champions event in September 2024. The statement also pointed out Zhu’s success, noting that she celebrated 500 total weeks in the World Top 20 last week. The statement also noted that Zhu was a former World No.1, which she achieved in November 2017.
Meanwhile, the winner of the competition’s Men’s Singles title was Lin Yun-Ju from Chinese Taipei, the statement said, with the 24-year-old rising to World No. 9 and returning to the Top 10.
“The completion of WTT Champions Doha 2026, the first event of the WTT season, has had a significant impact on the ITTF World Table Tennis Rankings, with players who delivered outstanding performances being rewarded with notable improvements in their standings”, according to the statement.
