A temporary ban on drones will be enforced near the Macao East Asian Games Dome in Cotai to ensure the smooth running of events for “The 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th Special Olympics of the People’s Republic of China (Macau)”, according to a statement yesterday by the Civil Aviation Authority (AACM).
The prohibition will be in effect from Monday through December 15 within a 50-metre radius of the dome.
The statement further noted that several other locations are also designated as no-fly zones for the same period. These include the Macau Taipa Ferry Terminal, the Macao Bridge, Wynn Palace, Pousada Marina Infante, the England Marina Club Hotel, and the Marina Phantom Apartment Hotel.
Operating a drone in these areas without prior written permission from the AACM is prohibited. The regulator warned that offenders will face fines ranging from 2,000 to 20,000 patacas.
