The Public Security Police (PSP) separately apprehended two local men and a local woman on Sunday and Monday for drunk driving, with their blood alcohol concentration standing at 1.31 grams per litre, 1.65 grams per litre and 2.58 grams per litre, respectively, PSP spokesman Cheong Heon Fan said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Cheong identified the suspects as a male taxi driver surnamed Ng, a male construction worker surnamed Wong, and a female public relations officer surnamed Lei, all in their thirties.
According to Cheong, the Public Security Police (PSP) received a report on Sunday morning about a motorcycle accident in Rua de Xangai (上海街). Upon arrival, police discovered that the biker, Lei, had injured a female pedestrian who sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital. A breathalyser test indicated her blood alcohol concentration was 1.65 grams per litre, confirming a drunk-driving offence.
Cheong noted that the police received another report on Monday about a motorcycle accident. While handling a traffic accident in Avenida da Ponte da Amizade (友誼橋大馬路) early Monday morning, a motorcycle behind the police officer failed to brake in time, causing the motorcyclist, Ng, to fall to the ground along with the motorcycle. A breathalyser test confirmed his blood alcohol concentration at 1.31 grams per litre, indicating a drunk-driving offence.
Cheong added that on Monday morning, the police received a report of another motorcycle accident in Avenida 1 de Maio (勞動節大馬路), where Wong fell of the motorcycle he was driving. A breathalyser test revealed his blood alcohol concentration was 2.58 grams per litre, confirming a drunk-driving offence.
Under questioning, all three suspects admitted to drinking alcoholic beverages before driving.
The three suspects have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), each facing a charge for drunk driving.
