The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), in partnership with the Association of Returned Overseas Chinese Macau, have organised the “ZAPE Taste Jam” market from August 15-24, according to a MGTO statement yesterday.
Running daily from 3:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., the market will unfold in the pedestrian zone in Rua de Cantão and Rua de Xangai in Zape* under the theme of “Taste the Streets Food Truck Jam”, the statement said, as the event aims to recreate Macau’s lively food scene with six food & distinctive trucks and over 30 stalls, offering local and Southeast Asian culinary delights, snacks and drinks, coffee, and alcoholic beverages, as well as cultural and creative activities, and games. Around 100 dining seats will be available for revellers to enjoy the array of things on offer, while local performance troupes will provide live music, dance, and other types of entertainment.
The statement noted that a part of the event’s interactive features, including a mega-sized claw machine and photo backdrop installations, will be set up for visitors to capture and share their experiences. The statement also said that patrons who spend 100 patacas or more in a single day at the market will be eligible to have a go on the claw machine, with additional chances awarded for every extra 100 patacas spent.
MGTO is promoting the event through online and offline channels, including social media campaigns, collaborations with the Chinese mainland and overseas KOLs**, themed travel content on a major online travel platform from the mainland, hotel promotions, and partnerships with an e-commerce platform, the statement said, which added that posters and leaflets will be distributed at tourist information counters, Zape hotels, and community organisations, with further exposure via local and Hong Kong media.
Supported by multiple government entities and community organisations, “ZAPE Taste Jam” is part of the local government’s broader strategy to attract visitors, stimulate spending, and inject new vitality into Zape through gastronomy, culture, and creative urban space use, the statement concluded.
