The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement yesterday that it has recently invited a delegation of 19 Indonesian travel trade members for a fact-finding visit, and participated in the Malaysia International Travel Mart (MITM Travel Fair) in Kuala Lumpur last week.

According to the statement, the delegation of Indonesian travel trade representatives visited Macau for five days last week, during which they experienced the city’s “tourism+” attractions, while their itinerary included visiting the Macau Grand Prix Museum and sampling the city’s delicacies.

The statement noted that Indonesia ranks fifth among Macau’s leading 10 visitor source markets and second among foreign visitor markets according to visitor figures from January to June.

MGTO also hosted a networking seminar for the Indonesian travel trade members, which was joined by over 60 participants including delegates and representatives from Macau’s tourism sector, the statement said, adding that both parties learnt about each other’s tourism sources, products and industry trends.

Meanwhile, MGTO visited Kuala Lumpur to join the MITM Travel Fair, which was held between last Thursday and Saturday, and partnered with the trade to launch “distinctive tourism products” to Macau such as Hong Kong-Macau and Greater Bay Area (GBA) multi-destination highlight tours, the statement added.

The event also featured a Macau presentation session, which offered prizes related to travel in Macau to the audience members.

The statement said that MGTO is also slated to participate in the “ASTINDO Travel Fair” in Jakarta on August 31 and set up a Macau booth there to promote the city as a destination. The event, according to the statement, is expected to attract over 28,000 fairgoers, with the fair gathering exhibitors from various tourist destinations, airlines and tourism operators.
