The 2026 “Zero Violence in the City – Domestic Violence Prevention Series” will run from September through November, featuring a new youth participation programme aimed at promoting domestic violence prevention and positive communication, programme organiser Wong Lei Lei announced during the launch conference yesterday.
The annual series is organised by the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) and the Women’s General Association of Macau (commonly known as Fu Luen), with the Anti-Domestic Violence Working Group as co-organiser and support from the city’s “6+1” District Collaboration Network.
A launch ceremony was held yesterday afternoon at the Fu Luen “Joy in Harmony” Family Integrated Service Centre (婦聯樂融家庭綜合服務中心). Attendees included IAS Family and Community Services Department Chief Lei Lai Peng, Fu Luen President Un Sio Leng, and Service Director Ho Ka Ian, alongside representatives from the working group and district collaboration networks.
Ho noted that the Social Welfare Bureau and Fu Luen have jointly organised the “Zero Violence in the City” series since 2015. This year’s edition marks the first time the programme will focus specifically on engaging local youth, with organisers hoping to mobilise more residents to join domestic violence prevention and community outreach efforts.
The newly introduced “Zero Violence Promotion Ambassador” programme targets local youth aged between 15 and 35. Registration runs from yesterday to October 4, with about 20 participants expected to be recruited.
Ambassadors will undergo professional training, attend talks, participate in organisational exchanges, and conduct community outreach, while leveraging social media platforms to spread awareness. Participants will also be encouraged to invite at least six local businesses to display promotional posters.
The ambassador scheme will host activities on October 10, October 17, and November 7. In addition, interactive promotional activities targeting integrated resort and tourism enterprise employees will be carried out across local businesses.
The series will culminate in a thanksgiving carnival on November 21 to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25. The event will feature a recognition ceremony for the ambassadors and interactive community booths.
Lei stressed that the campaign aims to promote gender equality, reduce stereotyping, and foster early identification and intervention to mitigate family crises, while encouraging residents, shopkeepers, and corporate enterprises to join as community partners in tackling domestic violence.
