According to a statement by the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) yesterday, the Global Legal & Sustainable Timber Forum 2026 (GLSTF 2026) is slated to be held next Tuesday and Wednesday at the Galaxy International Convention Centre in Cotai, striving to bring together timber and home furnishing industry representatives from 49 countries and regions.
Co-hosted by IPIM and the International Tropical Timber Organisation (ITTO), and organised by the Secretariat of the Global Green Supply Chains Initiative (GGSC), the forum will carry the theme “Innovation and Transformation – Pursuing Avenues for Resilient and Sustainable Global Timber Industries”, the statement said.
According to the statement, the event will see a 12-percent increase in foreign guests, with high-level officials and delegations from Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking countries and ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) member states attending. The statement added that senior officials from Mozambique and an official delegation from Mexico will participate for the first time.
Under an integrated model combining forums, exhibitions and business matching, the event will feature nearly 20 activities, including one main forum and four specialised sub-forums, roundtable meetings, B2B matching sessions* and international cooperation achievement releases, the statement noted.
Meanwhile, the “Legal & Sustainable Timber Display” will feature more than 30 booths showcasing sustainable timber, furniture, forest products and digital technologies, the statement said, adding that the forum will also host the inaugural Ad-hoc Macao Financing & Investment Matching, connecting timber enterprises seeking cross-border investment and financing.
Moreover, several international cooperation initiatives will be presented, including the “Action Framework 2026 for Promoting Legal and Sustainable Timber Supply Chains” and a blockchain-based timber traceability trading platform, the statement noted, pointing out that business cooperation agreements will also be signed during the two-day forum.
