The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) announced in a statement on Friday that public libraries have launched a new series of parent-child reading promotion activities, featuring two picture book activities – called “Roundabouts” and “Story World” – for young children.
All sessions are free of charge. Registration is currently open; residents can sign up via “Macao One Account”.
The new instalment of young children’s picture book “Roundabouts” is scheduled to run from October to December, tailored for children aged six months to four years old accompanied by their parents, the statement said, adding that, divided into specific age brackets covering six to eighteen months, eighteen months to 2 years, 2 to 3 years, and 3 to 4 years, the programme aims to utilise diverse five-sense stimulation and engage parent-child interactive reading to create a rich early literacy experience for young families.
The “Story World” programme is designed for children aged three to 12 years alongside their parents, aiming to cultivate children’s reading habits through storytelling, handicraft workshops, and interactive games. The activities take place every weekend at 3:00 p.m., requiring no advance registration so that families are free to join on-site, the statement added.
