The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) announced yesterday that it received 437 bids in its public tender for 20 stalls at Taipa Market, a figure nearly 22 times greater than the number of stalls available.

According to the bureau, the stalls are designated for “gastronomy and cultural creativity”, and are expected to begin trial operations in the fourth quarter of this year. Of the 437 bids submitted, 38 were excluded due to insufficient documentation or non-compliance with bidding rules.

The bureau noted that the evaluation criteria for the bidders include business strategy, experience and qualifications, and proposed daily operating hours. The bureau added that the accepted bidders will be notified and, based on their ranking, will be able to select a stall and sign a three-year lease contract.

The statement concluded that the initiative aims to promote gastronomy and cultural creativity in Taipa, with the trial operation of the market scheduled to begin by year’s end.
