According to a statement by the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) yesterday, the dog park on Avenida da Ponte da Amizade (“Friendship Bridge Avenue”) temporarily closes from today as the bureau begins a major upgrade aimed at improving facilities for dogs and their owners.
The bureau said that the dog park has been in use for many years and some of its facilities have deteriorated, prompting the improvement project, the statement said, highlighting that the upgrade will include expanding the park’s area, replacing dog play equipment, installing a dog washing station and adding more shade facilities to create a safer, more comfortable and convenient environment for visitors.
The upgrades are expected to take around 90 working days to complete, the statement said, pointing out that during the revamp, the dog park will remain closed and the access route leading to its entrance will also be temporarily blocked.
The bureau urged canine lovers to use the dog park near Estrada do Reservatório (“Reservoir Road”), which is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to midnight, while the Friendship Bridge facility undergoes renovation, the statement concluded.
