The number of visitors to Macau reached 20 million on Saturday afternoon, exceeding the 20-million benchmark 18 days earlier than last year, the Public Security Police (PSP) have announced.
Macau recorded 40.069 million visitor arrivals in 2025, the highest annual number on record.
A PSP statement on Saturday night said that Macau had recorded a daily average of 116,000 visitors so far this year, representing a 10.2 percent increase compared to the same period of last year.
The statement also pointed out that Macau recorded 248,000 visitor arrivals on May 2 this year, the second day of the Chinese mainland’s five-day Labour Day holiday period, the highest single-day number on record.
According to the statement, 14.639 million visitor arrivals out of the 20 million recorded between January 1 and Saturday afternoon were from the Chinese mainland, while 3.461 million were from Hong Kong, 541,000 were from China’s Taiwan region, and 1.363 million were from foreign countries.
Among the foreign visitor arrivals, the statement said, those from South Korea had the highest number, 270,000, followed by 260,000 from the Philippines.
