Youngsters from Colégio Dom Bosco (Yuet Wah), or DBYW, are presenting a raft of works in an exhibition celebrating the local primary school’s silver jubilee.
With five days left, the showcase of works for the DBYW 25th Anniversary Art Exhibition (鮑思高粵華小學25周年校慶視覺藝術展) is taking place at the Centre of Educational Resources located opposite Jardim de São Francisco (加思欄花園).
The colourful works showcased in the exhibition area were created by students as young as those in the first and second grades, with the event altogether highlighting art, creativity and beauty through the eyes of young children.
Among the exhibits are those that take on festive and vibrant red Chinese New Year themes and imagery, including their take on the Year of the Horse. Exhibitiongoers moving across the venue will also find various vibrant clay works on display that depict a range of ideas, alongside drawings, cardboard collages, painted masks, and 3D installations. While the works are all displayed inside the venue, passers-by may also get a glimpse of some of the art through the various window displays.
A recent statement about the exhibition issued by the school highlighted that each student transformed their classroom knowledge into “visible expression”, interpreting beauty and their passion for learning using their brushes, scissors, clay, and creativity.
The statement said: “Small creative sparks are gathered into powerful collective masterpieces – reflecting the art philosophy of ‘making the small grow’ and demonstrating strong teamwork”, adding that one of the exhibition’s aims is to also carry children’s understanding of the world and their hopes for the future.
A post on the school’s Facebook page during the opening ceremony of the exhibition last month further noted that “every piece embodies the children’s infinite imagination and pure vitality”.
Continuing to highlight the creativity of youngsters throughout its remaining run, one can visit the exhibition at the centre’s ground-floor Educational Multimedia Area from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. from today through Friday, and, on the final day on Saturday from between 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and between 2 p.m. and 5:40 p.m.
