The two-day brands and products expo, called “Guangdong Goods with Global Reach, Zhongshan Products in Macau” concluded yesterday in Praça do Tap Siac (塔石廣場), with the aim of promoting Zhongshan products in Macau.
Zhou Zuode, vice-mayor of the People’s Government of Zhongshan Municipality, said in a speech on Saturday the fair’s objective was to serve as a starting point for continuously deepening comprehensive cooperation between Zhongshan and Macau in areas such as industrial collaboration, commercial trade, cultural exchange, and public services.
The goal was to bring more high-quality Zhongshan products to Macau and to enable the residents of both cities to share in the development opportunities and the fruits of the expo, Zhou said.
Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) President Che Weng Keong said in a speech that the expo aimed to expand the brand influence of Zhongshan’s products and their coverage in overseas markets. While actively participating in the development of the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, Che said that the bureau will join hands with Zhongshan to leverage their respective advantages, precisely build an investment attraction network, and pragmatically advance investment promotion efforts.
Permanent Secretariat of Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) Deputy Secretary-General Xie Ying said in a speech that the secretariat welcomes continued interaction and exchanges with Zhongshan.
She expressed the hope that the active participation of Zhongshan enterprises in various China-Portuguese-speaking Countries’ economic and trade activities will further increase, working together to promote cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries and achieving mutual benefits and shared success for Zhongshan, Macau, and the Portuguese-speaking world.
According to a statement by the expo organisers, the fair featured products in various categories including home appliances, houseware, electronics, clothing, chemical products, food, and cultural tourism. The statement said that the expo aimed to showcase Zhongshan’s image in terms of technological innovation, manufacturing capabilities, quality living, tourism appeal, and the preservation of intangible cultural heritage.

The statement said the aim is to deepen economic and trade cooperation between Zhongshan and Macau, and leverage Macau’s role as a “commerce and trade cooperation platform for China and Portuguese-speaking countries” to further unlock the potential of Zhongshan’s manufacturing and commercial service sectors.
Zhongshan Municipality has some 4.4 million inhabitants. Zhongshan’s Tanzhou Town lies near Macau.
