A collaborative exhibition titled “The Mysterious Visitor” is taking place on the first-floor exhibition room of the 10 Fantasia gallery, showcasing the characters created by local illustrators Aurelio Lewis (aka Oreo) and Joy Choi (蔡容容), who is also a graphic designer.
On until February 28, the exhibition features “Bumbo”, a brown bear who likes food and exploration, and a poodle named “Little P”, with the sport-loving character described as being courageous and curious, according to information describing the characters at the venue.
The two characters find themselves in different situations, with their journey starting from entering a book and presented in nine colourful digital paintings, all the while showcasing mutual support for each other.
“Bumbo” was created by Lewis, who established his IP brand “Bumboreo” (a blend of the names Oreo and Bumbo) in 2020. The local freelance illustrator, according to information displayed at the venue, is a graduate of the Illustration Department at the University of Lincoln in the UK and has worked on illustrations for HSBC Life Macau and several small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Regarding his brand, it tells a story based on Oreo’s daily life, blending reality and imagination through Bumbo’s curious and creative perspective.
“Little P”, meanwhile, comes from the mind of Choi, who started creating a series of works focusing on the character and establishing the “Unique Family” illustration series in 2017. “It aims to convey the diverse aspects of daily life through vivid character settings and bright colours”, according to the statement. The statement added that Choi has a master’s degree in Visual Arts from Hongik University in South Korea, noting that Choi has joined exhibitions and related activities in the Chinese mainland, Macau and China’s Taiwan region, as well as South Korea and Japan.
10 Fantasia gallery, located on 10 Calçada da lgreja de S. Lázaro (瘋堂斜巷10號), is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Tuesday through Sunday. It is closed on Mondays.
