The Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT), Macau Monetary Authority (AMCM) and Macau Chamber of Commerce (ACM) co-hosted a closing ceremony yesterday for their “Community Consumption Grand Prix 2025”, announcing that the 10-week consumer spending drive generated over 1.04 billion patacas for over 20,000 local businesses.

The ceremony was held at the ACM headquarters in Zape yesterday.

DSEDT Acting Director Cheang Hio Man said in a speech during the ceremony that promoting community economic development remained a key government priority, adding that this year’s Community Consumption Grand Prize initiative had enhanced consumer satisfaction and engagement through integrated resources and optimised event design, while effectively channelling spending to better support small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in residential communities.

Cheang also said her bureau would continue to collaborate with the business sector in developing diverse campaigns, aiming to stimulate consumption and revitalise local communities.

ACM Vice Chairwoman Tina Ho Teng Iat noted in a speech that the chamber has collaborated with the government in launching a raft of large-scale consumption promotion initiatives, including “Weekend Consumer Rewards in the Northern District”, “Macau Consumer Grand Prix”, and “Community Consumption Grand Prix 2025”. These sustained efforts, Ho said, have revitalised the local economy and stabilised operational confidence among local SMEs.

The bureau said in a statement that the Community Consumption Grand Prix involved about 20,000 businesses, of which retail shops accounted for 61 percent, eateries for 29 percent, and services and others for 10 percent. During the campaign, e-vouchers worth 290 million patacas were issued, of which 250 million patacas were redeemed, generating 1.04 billion patacas in associated consumer spending.

Yesterday’s closing ceremony also featured a grand lucky draw. The prizes included weekly draws, which totalled 480,000 patacas, sponsored by the chamber. Grand prizes and e-vouchers and gifts exceeded 1 million patacas sponsored by financial institutions, with a total of 642 winners. All winners will be notified by phone, and the full list will be available on the event website www.macaospendingrewards.com tomorrow, according to the statement.
