Registration is now open for a new series of English courses at Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) beginning this spring, according to a statement yesterday by the tertiary education institution.
The public university’s website noted that the MPU-Bell Centre of English is “a joint project between MPU and Bell Education Trust based in Cambridge, England (a leading UK centre of excellence for English language teaching and learning for nearly 70 years)”. MPU-Bell was formerly known as ‘MPI-Bell’, the website said.
The course offerings cover a wide range of areas, the statement noted. They include IELTS* preparation classes at foundation, intermediate, and advanced levels, as well as weekend intensive sessions. Other courses focus on English speaking enhancement for undergraduates, academic presentation and thesis writing for postgraduates, and English for job applications. Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) preparation and various introductory English courses are also available.
According to the statement, all courses are taught by experienced bilingual instructors or senior native English-speaking teachers. The instructors serve as certified examiners, assessors for international English examinations, or professional curriculum consultants.
Registration is open to both local and non-local applicants, the statement said. Further details and registration are available on the centre’s official website www.mpu.edu.mo/mpubell. For enquiries, one may call 8599 3163 or email mpubell@mpu.edu.mo.
* IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. It is a standardised test that assesses the English language proficiency of non-native speakers. It is widely used for educational, immigration, and professional purposes, and evaluates four key skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. – Poe
