Integrated resort operator Sands China announced in a statement yesterday that it will be paying a discretionary bonus equal to a month’s salary to eligible full-time staff on February 6, while a salary increase is also set to be effective from March 1, benefitting 99 percent of the company’s nearly 28,000 employees.

According to the statement, the discretionary bonus will be paid to non-management staff who have been with the company for one year or more. Meanwhile, management staff will receive the discretionary bonus based on “individual performance, the company’s Management Incentive Plan, and financial results”.

The statement added that prorated bonuses will be paid to staff who have worked with the company for less than a year if they joined the company before October 1, 2025 and are still employed on the bonus pay out date.

Moreover, on the salary increase, the statement said that eligible full-time employees earning up to 16,000 patacas monthly will receive a raise of 500 patacas, resulting in an increase between 3.1 and 4.0 percent. Those earning monthly salaries above 16,000 patacas will receive a 2.0 per cent pay rise.

Sands China Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Grant Chum Kwan Lock was quoted in the statement as saying that 2025 was a “remarkable year” for Sands China, highlighting achievements including receiving total visitation beyond 1.1 billion, delivering around 600 events across MICE, entertainment, sport, and arts and culture, and recent accolades.

“These accomplishments reflect the professionalism and dedication of our team members. In recognition of their efforts over the past year, we are pleased to announce a discretionary bonus and a salary increase. On behalf of our board of directors and senior management, I sincerely thank every team member for their contributions”.

Sands China is the final integrated resort operator to announce its discretionary bonus. Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), Melco Resorts & Entertainment, Wynn Macau, Limited and MGM had previously announced* their discretionary bonus for staff, while SJM Resorts confirmed their announcement to the Post via email yesterday.

The SJM reply noted that their “Special Discretionary Bonus” equivalent to a month’s salary will be distributed to eligible employees on January 30 “in appreciation of the team’s contributions and commitment over the past year”.
