Lei identified the suspect as a female in her sixties surnamed Chan who works as an administrator.
According to Lei, the Public Security Police (PSP) received a report on November 26 from a female non-resident worker (NRW) who said that she had lost her wallet in Rua Central da Areia Preta (黑沙環中街) while going to work on November 25. The following morning, the victim discovered that her wallet, containing 30,500 patacas and HK$100 in cash, had gone missing. Suspecting that someone had stolen it, she immediately reported a total loss of 30,500 patacas and HK$100 to the police.
Through their citywide CCTV surveillance footage, the police identified Chan as the suspect and apprehended her on Sunday in Rua Central da Areia Preta (黑沙環中街). Under questioning, Chan admitted to stealing the wallet. The police later recovered the wallet and the cash from her flat.
