The Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) announced on its website on Wednesday evening that its cold shelter, upon the issuance of a Yellow or Orange* cold weather alert by the local weather station, was open.

Yesterday evening, IAS officials told the Post that six people used the shelter that night.

The shelter is located at 34 Rua Leste da Ilha Verde, Edifício do Bairro da Ilda Verde (青洲東街34號青洲坊大廈E1的避寒中心).

The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) announced its Yellow cold weather alert on Wednesday night, which denotes that it was “cold” in Macau at that time.

Last night, the local observatory noted that today’s temperature was forecast to range between 14°C and 20°C.

At 10 p.m. yesterday, the mercury stood at 16°C. No cold weather alert was issued at that time.

For more information, one can visit the websites of the local observatory and Social Welfare Bureau.
