A large steel frame structure near the square outside Macau Tower was blown over by a strong gust of wind yesterday morning, striking a car and seven parked motorcycles.
Authorities confirmed that no one was injured in the freak incident.
The structure was situated near Sai Van Lake and was one of the installations for the upcoming “2025 Macao Food Festival”. The event is scheduled to take place at the nearby Praça do Lago Sai Van (Sai Van Lake Square) from Friday until November 30.

This year marks the 25th edition of the annual food festival, which is organised by the United Association of Food and Beverage Merchants of Macau headed by ex-lawmaker Andrew Chan Chak Mo.
According to a statement from the Fire Services Bureau (CB), an emergency call was received shortly after 11 a.m. yesterday. The statement reported that a “large” steel frame, measuring 30 by 7 metres, had collapsed onto a car and a number of motorcycles. No injuries were reported, the bureau said.
The Fire Services Bureau said it has notified the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) and the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) about the incident.
A spokesperson for the Public Security Police (PSP) told the Post by phone yesterday that police were alerted to the incident at 11:07 a.m. They confirmed the collapsed structure had hit one car and seven motorcycles.
The spokesperson confirmed that no injuries were reported.
Following an investigation, initial findings by the police indicated that the steel frame was toppled by a strong gust of wind. The PSP spokesperson emphasised that the investigation has been concluded, and no evidence of a crime was found.
