In its ongoing effort to continue to promote diverse meteorological science education, the Geophysical and Meteorological Bureau (SMG) will hold parent-child activities – “Family Activity to Learn About Meteorology” and “Exploring Meteorology with Fun” on November 22, according to a statement released by Geophysical and Meteorological Bureau yesterday.
The registration for the two activities opened yesterday and runs until Sunday via the “Activity Registration” section of the “Macao One Account” app, the statement said.
The statement said that all participants will receive a souvenir upon completion of the activities.
The statement noted that the “Family Activity to Learn About Meteorology” is tailored for children aged 4 to 8 and their parents, including a weather-themed show, hoisting typhoon signals experience, and role-playing as a junior weather presenter to explain weather conditions, adding that the “Exploring Meteorology with Fun” is aimed at children aged 6 to 12 and their parents, and features hands-on experience with meteorological instruments, interactive games, and a meteorology workshop.
Eligible families can register for both activities. Both tours will include a visit to the core area for weather forecasting and warnings and a trip to the century-old weather station to learn about meteorological facilities. Both activities will be conducted in Cantonese.
The registration is based on a family unit, with each group consisting of two to five members, and the activities are free. If applications exceed the quota, a computerised draw will be held. Applicants can check the results on the “Macao One Account” app next Thursday, the statement said.
