Two men from Hong Kong were arrested on Tuesday for using heroin in a hotel guestroom in Cotai, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Wai Lok said during a regular press conference yesterday.

Ho identified the suspects as a 56-year-old male surnamed Chui who claimed to be jobless, and his 40-year-old friend surnamed Tsang who works as an electrician.

According to Ho, the police received a report on Tuesday at 11 p.m. from a casino in Cotai, suspecting that two guests were using drugs in a hotel guestroom. Upon arrival, the police apprehended both Chui and Tsang. The police discovered a burnt piece of foil and a paper straw, indicating that the two had used these items to consume drugs.

Ho noted that the duo had arrived in Macau the previous afternoon and checked into the hotel guestroom booked by Chui, where they had consumed all of the heroin before being intercepted by the police.

Ho added that drug tests showed that both Chui and Tsang tested positive for heroin. Under questioning, both admitted to using drugs but refused to disclose the source of the drugs.

The duo have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing charges of drug use and possession of drug paraphernalia.
