The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) announced in a statement on Friday that enhancement works on small-scale facilities across Macau’s public libraries will begin today, with completion expected by mid-December.
According to the bureau, the works will cover infrastructure upgrades such as floor refurbishments, wall repairs, thermal insulation film* installation, and modification to doors and windows. Some branches will also undergo wooden window frame repairs and the installation of charging sockets to improve functionality and convenience, the statement noted.
During the enhancement period, all branch libraries will remain open to the public, the bureau reaffirmed, adding that residents can access the library services as usual.
At the Taipa Library, additional improvements will be carried out, including floor refurbishments in the adult reading and bookshelf areas, as well as replacing the soft mat in the “Baby Book Club”, the statement said, aiming to enhance comfort and practicality in library spaces while ensuring service continuity.
The bureau pointed out that the enhancements will take place during closed hours or off-peak periods, with phased works and partial closures arranged to minimise disruption, and readers are advised to follow on-site instructions and avoid restricted areas for safety.
