Macau retail sales drop 1.4 pct in 2Q

Macau’s retail sales totalled 15.97 billion patacas in the second quarter of the year, a year-on-year decline of 1.4 percent, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) has announced in a statement.

The bureau’s statement yesterday noted that the drop was “much smaller than [the one] in the first quarter of this year,” which stood at 15.0 percent.

In the first half of the year, retail sales decreased by 9.0 percent year-on-year to 33.55 billion patacas.

In the first six months of the year, Macau’s gross gaming revenue (GGR) rose by 4.4 percent to 118.7 billion patacas, according to Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) data.
