The artworks of young local artist Ng I Weng are being showcased in an exhibition entitled “Life Replay” at the 10 Fantasia gallery on Calçada da Igreja de S. Lázaro (瘋堂斜巷), with exhibitiongoers able to view them until May 30.
Displayed in the gallery’s room A02, the ongoing solo exhibition comprises a total of 14 oils, the subjects of which depict nature and greenery, patterns and places around Macau, among others. Moreover, there are also several sketches on display.
Through her oil paintings, Ng, who was born in 1993 and is a graduate of Huafan University in Taipei, hopes to evoke memories and emotions among exhibitiongoers, as well as establish empathy with them through her perspective, according to a statement from the exhibition.
The statement noted that people often “repeatedly encounter” similar scenarios while being surrounded by “unfamiliar passersby”, with these moments becoming memories. The works showcased act as visual representations and emotional connections that resonate across time.
Moreover, each work is influenced by elements such as culture, design, nature and products, among others, the statement said.
The statement said that Ng is an artist who has been curious about life from a young age. She specialises in oils and acrylics, using these mediums, along with other art forms, to explore humanity, emotional connections and nature, according to the statement.
Exhibitiongoers may visit the free-admission gallery from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Tuesday to Sunday during the period.
