Studio City Sk8te Park opened on Saturday, providing the city’s skateboarders a new venue for the action sport.
According to a statement released on the same day, the park is Macau’s first rooftop skatepark and was designed by Hurricane Parks, which is noted as being “a renowned builder of Olympic-level sports venues and world-class championship facilities”. It features both street and park obstacles, the statement said, being geared towards skateboarding, BMX freestyle, scooters, and inline skating.
The statement noted that the park also features an “8” shaped dual bowl that mirrors the integrated resort’s Golden Reel and is the largest skate bowl in the city.
Saturday also saw the launch of the inaugural “Studio City Sk8Fest”, which ran until yesterday and featured activities such as a performance by Japanese pro-skater Kai Kishi and award-winning young local skateboarder Nathaniel Wong, breakdancing performances, a Skate Clinic, among others, according to the statement.
Meanwhile, the “Melco Style Presents: 2025 FISE Battle of the Champions”, which the statement said is the first international skateboarding competition in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), was also held and focused on street skating.
Both FISE and Sk8Fest featured skaters from different parts of the world, the statement noted.
Studio City Senior Vice President and Property General Manager Kevin Benning was quoted by the statement as saying: “By bringing world-class sports facilities and major international sporting events to Macau, we aim to strengthen the city as a ‘City of Sports’ and further reinforce Macau’s positioning as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure while offering both locals and tourists more diverse entertainment experiences”.
