The “Silver-Haired Dreams Take Flight: A Journey of Dream Realisation” event has recently been held by the University of Saint Joseph’s (USJ) Faculty of Health Sciences in collaboration with Casa para Anciãos da Paróquia de Santo António (“House for the Elderly of the Saint Anthony Parish”) and the Dream Theatre Association.

The event was part of the private university’s “Silver Blossom” community art project.

Held on the USJ Ilha Verde campus, the event promoted intergenerational engagement and lifelong learning, according to a statement on the USJ website.

The statement said that the event “successfully bridged the gap between generations, enabling 51 elderly participants to embrace their roles as ‘students’ for a day. The diverse group included seniors from the local community, elderly volunteers, young volunteers, and social work students from USJ”.

The event was led by Faculty of Health Sciences Dean Prof. Jacky Ho Chong Kin (何鍾建), during which he presented a lecture on “Creating an Age-Friendly Community in Macao” (“澳門友善城市計劃”), followed by group projects that explored issues related to the “Macao Friendly City” initiative.

The statement added that the elderly participants and young students were able to exchange ideas on topics such as transportation, housing and employment during the activity on January 24.

Afterwards, participants were given a guided tour of the campus and concluded their activity with a “graduation ceremony”, according to the statement.

This photo downloaded from the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) website last night shows guests and participants at the “graduation ceremony” held during the “Silver-Haired Dreams Take Flight: A Journey of Dream Realisation” event on the USJ campus on January 24.
