Guangdong Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge Shuttle Bus Limited said in a notice on its website yesterday that it has been informed by passengers that they noticed lice on a Macau-bound bus from Hong Kong earlier this week.

The shuttle buses are colloquially known as “golden buses”.

According to the statement, the lice-infested vehicle was a double-decker with the number plate WF9736, which departed from Hong Kong at 11:55 p.m. on Tuesday.

The bus operator said in the statement that it has meanwhile strengthened its cleaning procedures, promising that it will further increase the frequency of disinfection and lice control on its buses, as well as its vehicle hygiene inspections..
