MGTO to launch 3 subsidised schemes to boost community tourism

The Macau Government Tourism Office’s (MGTO) three new subsidised programmes encouraging local non-profit organisations to host activities to enrich community tourism in Macau will be open for applications from July 31, according to an MGTO statement on Tuesday. 

The three subsidised programs this year, namely, “Travelling Around Macau” Community Tourism Subsidised Programm, “Flavours of Macau” Gastronomic Promotion Subsidised Programme, and “Harbour Fun” Sea Travel Subsidised Programm, will accept applications till September 11. 

The “Travelling Around Macau” Community Tourism Subsidised Programm, according to the statement, aims at integrating various tourism attractions to boost community tourism, adding that by combining cultural, sports, festivals and other entertainment programmes supported by local micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, the programme aims to revitalise the business environment and attract foreign tourists to visit local communities.

The “Flavours of Macau” Gastronomic Promotion Subsidised Programme, according to the statement, aims to combine tourism, food and creativity to showcase Macau’s unique culinary culture, providing visitors with a rich experiences, attract more foreign tourists and enhance Macau’s reputation as a “City of Gastronomy”.

The “Harbour Fun” Sea Travel Subsidised Programm, according to the statement, aims to use Macau’s waters and coastal areas to carry out maritime tourism projects to promote the city’s diversified leisure experience and enhance the overall tourism value of its waterfront.

The statement noted that successful applicants will be required to start their projects between January 1 to December 31 next year.
