The 134-year-old Tung Sin Tong Charitable Society hosted a press conference yesterday about its upcoming Annual Fundraising Campaign starting on Monday.

The press conference was held at the Federal Restaurant in Zape.

According to Tung Sin Tong President José Chui Sai Peng, the campaign will once again travel across various city districts to appeal for donations, including Taipa Village, Coloane Village, the Northern District, the Rua da Praia do Manduco (下環街) neighbourhood, and Rua de Cinco de Outubro (十月初五街).

Last year, new routes were added, with volunteers visiting Hac Sa Village in Coloane and the Inner Harbour piers to appeal for donations. Chui expressed hope that through concerted efforts, the social values of mutual help and the joy of doing good would be promoted.

According to a statement released during the event, Bank of China (BOC) Macau will again support the campaign this year by launching two online donation and charity spending initiatives. Running from the first day of the door-to-door appeal until January 27 next year, anyone donating 50 patacas or more via the Bank of China Macau mobile banking app on Tung Sin Tong’s dedicated donation page will be eligible for a voucher, the statement said. It added that customers spending 50 patacas or more via the app at either of Tung Sin Tong’s two traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) pharmacies will automatically enter a lucky draw for a chance to win a 10-pataca voucher.

In an overview of Tung Sin Tong’s charitable work and financial position for the 2025–2026 financial year, total income for the past year amounted to approximately 162 million patacas, against expenditure of around 161 million patacas. The funds were mainly used for poverty relief, free medical consultations and medicines, free childcare, elderly care, and administrative expenses. The surplus was transferred to reserves, the preparatory fund for the construction of the Tung Sin Tong Integrated Services Building, and earmarked funds for repairing and reconstructing dilapidated buildings.
