Have you ever felt stressed and upset at school? However, you have no one to talk about your worries and struggles. Many of our classmates may feel lonely every day. In our busy school life, we may not notice their negative emotions.

In school, when I see a classmate feeling stressed or sad, I will stay with them quietly and listen to them carefully without judging them. I will give them time to share their feelings instead of giving advice too quickly.

When I do this, my classmates may feel comforted and much less lonely. They know someone really cares about them. Little by little, they may become braver when they face their own troubles. If I keep doing this, they may start listening to other classmates too. This small kindness can slowly spread across our whole school and warm many hearts around us every day. More students will learn to care for one another and build a warmer school community.

Listening is a powerful small act of kindness. Simply by listening, we can help someone who is having a difficult time feel better.

Starting today, let’s try to be patient and take the time to listen to the people around us. Remember that a small act of kindness can make a big difference to our someone’s life.
