The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a photographer from the Chinese mainland on Saturday for sexually harassing a female colleague, PJ spokesman Cheong Un Hong said during a regular press conference yesterday.

Cheong identified the suspect as a 42-year-old male non-resident worker (NRW) surnamed Li. Cheong said that the victim is a young local woman who worked with Li as a saleswoman.

According to Cheong, since August this year, Li had on multiple occasions touched the victim’s private parts when no one else was in the shop.

The victim, fearing that she would not be believed, had endured this in silence, Cheong said, adding that on the afternoon of last Thursday, Li again took advantage of there being no one else in the shop, putting his hand inside the victim’s top and fondling her private parts.

The victim resisted on the spot and pushed him away, but Li did not stop until a female colleague returned to the shop and witnessed the incident, at which point Li left, according to Cheong. Afterwards, with her female colleague’s encouragement, the victim reported the matter to the police.

On the afternoon of Saturday, the day the report was received, Judiciary Police officers detained Li at the shop for investigation.

Li has since been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing charges of sexual coercion and sexual harassment.
