The Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) announced in a statement yesterday that it will hold a job-matching fair for people with disabilities (PWDs) on December 3, offering 97 vacancies across 15 companies, with online applications opening tomorrow through November 10.

The “Ability & Opportunity” Employment Matching Fair for Persons with Disabilities (“喜見・樂聘”殘疾人士就業配對會) aims to help PWDs who are able to work find suitable positions while encouraging employers to provide more inclusive employment opportunities, the statement said.

The 15 participating companies represent sectors including integrated tourism and leisure, hotels, food and beverage, laundry, cleaning and security services, the statement added, while the 97 vacancies include office assistants, finance specialists, data processing and analysis staff, IT support specialists, guest relations officers, food and beverage service staff, room attendants, housekeeping attendants, uniform room attendants, florists, stewards, security guards and cleaners.

Eligible PWDs who are seeking open employment* can visit the bureau’s dedicated webpage for the job-matching fair from tomorrow through November 10 to review vacancies and submit their applications online.

The event will take place at the Vocational Training Centre of the bureau Tai Peng Office, on the ground floor of Tai Peng Industrial Building Phase I at 101-105A Istmo de Ferreira do Amaral, according to the statement.

For enquiries, applicants can contact the bureau’s Ability Development Team on 2870 0277 or 6632 9329 during office hours.

* Open employment (also referred to as competitive integrated employment or open-market employment) refers to a setup where persons with disabilities work in the general labour market alongside non-disabled employees, under the same terms, conditions, and remuneration standards. – Gemini
