A Public Security Police Force (PSP) spokesperson confirmed to the Post by phone yesterday that an eight-year-old girl from the Chinese mainland was injured when she crossed the road when the pedestrian light was red and was hit by a private car in Nape yesterday.

According to the PSP spokesperson, police received a report at about 3:18 p.m. regarding a traffic accident involving a private car and a pedestrian on Avenida Dr. Sun Yat-Sen (孫逸仙大馬路) near Sands Macao in Nape.

The girl was found lying on the ground near a pedestrian crossing and appeared to be in pain. She was accompanied by her mother and rushed by ambulance to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre for treatment.

A Fire Services Bureau (CB) spokesman said the girl suffered a suspected fracture to her right ankle and multiple abrasions. Her condition was stable.

The private car was driven by a local man in his 60s. A breathalyser test showed that he had no alcohol in his system.

As the girl is under 16, no penalties will be brought against her, police added.
