The Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT) said in a statement yesterday that it will set up a temporary post counter at Largo do Pagode da Barra this weekend to provide a commemorative postmark cancellation service for the 13th International Lion Dance Championship 2026 – MGM Cup.
The championship will return to Largo do Pagode da Barra this weekend, featuring a record 25 lion dance teams and more than 280 athletes from 14 countries and regions, making it the largest edition in the event’s history, according to a press conference at MGM COTAI last month.
The championship will feature 36 matches across youth, junior and adult divisions, with Canada making its debut alongside teams from Singapore, Malaysia and other countries and regions. The growing participation also highlights the development of lion dance among young people in Macau through school outreach, training and international competition, the press conference pointed out.
The temporary post counter will operate from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, the CTT statement said, adding that the service is being provided to commemorate the championship and will allow residents and visitors to obtain the event’s commemorative postmark.
Commemorative postcards featuring the event will also be available for 20 patacas each, the statement noted, adding that various local philatelic products will be on sale at the ad hoc counter.
The bureau welcomed members of the public to visit the counter and collect commemorative stamps and related philatelic products during the event, the statement said.
