A Public Security Police Force (PSP) spokeswoman confirmed to the Post by phone last night that a motorcyclist was injured after a taxi failed to give way.
According to a statement released by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) yesterday at 7:59 a.m., it received a report of a traffic accident at the junction of Rotunda de Pac On (北安圓形地) and Avenida do Porto de Pac On (北安港大馬路), with the caller reporting one injured person.
A CB spokesman confirmed to the Post by phone last night that upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found a motorbike lying on the ground alongside the victim, who had suffered multiple abrasions but remained conscious and stable. The victim was rushed to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre (CHSCJ) for treatment.
According to the PSP spokeswoman, the injured person is a local resident in his 40s, as is the taxi driver. She added that both passed breathalyser tests.
The accident occurred because the taxi driver failed to observe a give way sign and collided with the motorcycle, injuring the rider. The spokeswoman noted that the taxi driver was fined for failing to give way.
Under Article 35 of Macau’s Road Traffic Law, the taxi driver faces a fine of 900 patacas.
